Every artist has go-to tools for different creative endeavors. Some of those tools end up being invaluable! I've made a list of some of the items I use in my day to day work in comics.

Portable Drawing Board
This board has been amazing! When we were moving out to Portland I grabbed one of these and I was able to set up whenever we stopped over in a hotel for the night. It also helps in a pinch when I can't get to my office to work. I can just set it up on the dinner table for an hour or so and then fold it back down to tuck away until later.

Zebra Brush Pens
I've mentioned this before, but I love these brush pens! The Zebra brush pen made be fall in love with traditional inking again after a long break from the art form. These pens can give you a beautifully thin line if you use a delicate touch. Generally, I use these for my broad lines and Sakura Microns for the super fine details.

Drafting Ruler
Ever since my husband gave me his drafting ruler, I have never used another. There's this cool roller on the underside that makes parallel lines SO easy. (Functions as a compass, horizontal ruler, straightedge, protractor, circle template and angle template multipurpose drawing instrument that lets you measure in inches and centimeter.)

Thank you everyone who entered the Love Not Found Winter Fanart Contest! Every piece I received brought a huge smile to my face and after such a rough winter those smiles were even more appreciated. And now, without further ado, I am delighted to announce the winners of the contest. Please check out their sites and the sites of all of the other awesome artists in the fanart gallery!

If you've been looking for a copy of George Orwell's 1984 to read, but it's sold out at your local book & coffee shop, try some of these equally relevant books! In fact, here's an awesome list with even more titles to check out!

Or take a break from the scary stuff happening in the world for a moment and read a nice manga like Princess Jellyfish! Omnibus Volume 4 has just come out!

Thank you everyone for your patience last week while I went to battle with the flu. I'm on the mend and looking forward to catching up on all the things. Fanart contest winners will be contacted by Friday and announced publicly next week. Erstwhile Vol.3 is at the printer and we are sending in our thumbs up on the proof! My Patreon has a new $5 backer feature with Love Not Found Calendar art! I'm pretty excited about that! And so much more...

The LNF Winter Fanart Contest is still going on! Get your entries in before January 31st for a chance to win cool Love Not Found goodies!

Year end review: I have to say, 2016 was rough. We had lots of medical things going on throughout the year, we were still adjusting to the move across the country, oldest kid started school, and a general sense of feeling like I was never getting anything done. Then I tallied up everything I did this year and it turns out that I didn’t do half bad!

In 2016, I did all this:

  • 148 Love Not Found comic pages online.
  • 28 pages of Crush (filthy figments comic).
  • 11 pages of Riding Hood (filthy figments comic).
  • Ran a Kickstarted and Printed Love Not Found Vol.1
  • Ran a Kickstarter campaign for Erstwhile Vol.3
  • Attended two conventions (with kids in tow), one out of state.
  • Drew a Yuri on Ice fanart that made it past 10k notes on Tumblr.

The past couple days I’ve been trying to map out what I want to accomplish in 2017. I think I’ve got a good, realistic handle on what I can complete. I had to put some project ideas off until next year, but I’ll be way less stressed thinking I can do it all. I also tried to consider some projects that could also roll into rewards for Patreon members, so it can take care of multiple areas that need attention all at the same time. All in all, I’m excited for this year!
